jason called out for a day at buff creek, which sounded just about right for my ankle. forecast was good, and after a late start (jb wasn't quite seeing straight and still sweating all the alcohol from his system from the night before) we met AJ, nick, er, nicholas, and his buddy joe, followed shortly thereafter by dave & hillary (note to hillary: south 285 to pine junction).
anyway, 'twas a fun day, but wow i got worked; i'd like to think it was from all the time off the bike since the latest injury, but holy cow AJ and joe put the hammer down. much to my surprise (though shouldn't have been), nickle "clydesdale freeride boy" didn't seem to be breaking a sweat keeping up on his hefty hardtail.
in any event, the best part was the post-ride BBQ back at the vehicles (note to self: next time park at the bottom of the hill). brats, chicken, and some reasonably cold beer. felt like a long day in the saddle, but i'm sure i'll be back for more. P.S. ed even joined us for a bite/drink after his ride. :-)
