great ride tonight... IMBA group ride w/ all of the regional directors from out-of-town. picture rock to wild turkey and back down. good stuff. ended up at oskar blues for some chow and live music. tracer was feelin' the flow, though sounded a bit "loose"– definitely needs some TLC ASAP.
realizing my HR monitor isn't so accurate (perhaps a case of "you get what you pay for"), so not sure i'll be using it much after all for training; at least now i have a sense of perceived exertion and can go by that...
tomorrow is the anthony sloan memorial ride up at alderfer/3 sis.

Day 12 COMBA BoD ride
it was decided by the BoD that we'd postpone our meeting and ride instead in honor of anthony, though only 3 of us were able to do so... which meant i was chasing über-fit freaks AJ and nate up grubstake on up apex. supposed to be a zone 1 "recovery ride"–per my FC50 training– so much for that plan!
still good to get out on the bike.

Day 11 needed to get out
supposed to go out for 3:00 today; looks like i fell short of my HR goal (at least :30 in Zone 3). this whole "training" thing is harder than i thought (not in terms of effort, but in terms of sustained periods at a target heart rate over X time).
oh well... it ain't for the TdF, and i'm sure i'm getting some benefit still.
golden out to westminster and back via a circuitous route. felt good to be on the bike, as this was the first ride since learning of anthony's death and the late night last night at casa de MTB w/ his friends. Ride On, Mr. Sloan.

Day 10 Zone 3 @ GM
my first interval / HR monitor ride...
supposed to do three 12' Zone 4 efforts w/ 3' recovery in between (after warm up). that is harder to hit than i thought (on a mountain bike / trail). i guess if you had a road bike and a sustained climb it would be easier, but trying to maintain a HR while going up / across / down GM didn't work as well as expected. averages closer to Zone 3.

Day 7 – LT threshold test
according to my Team IMBA training peaks plan, i need to get a baseline for my lactate threshold. you're supposed to go out pretty hard on a flat and monitor heart rate for :30 (:10 then :20). i thought that the van bibber trail would be a good option, but lo & behold the overhead power lines were wreaking havoc on my HR monitor, so i ended up just on the roads which wasn't ideal for sustained efforts.
anyhoo, not sure how accurate this is, but i'm going w/ it for now:
lap 1 - (warm up) :10 @ 175
lap 2 - :20 @163*
lap 3 - (warm down) :19 @102
