this was one of "those days"…
you know the rides that can either turn out to be spectacular or horrific, 'cuz you know going in you probably shouldn't be riding (so either you're surprised, or proven right). i had a horrible night of sleep (more like rest) last night (a trend lately, for some reason), and then a measily lunch at my daughter's school picnic. worse yet, we met first at Golden City Brewery pre-ride, which meant a pitcher of IPA was at hand.
then it was off w/ some of the fit/fast folks right up chimney gulch. "kill me now" was the mantra of the day. i really wanted to quit the entire time up, but icegeek wouldn't let me until i insisted near the top, after dropping the chain twice. (turns out it wasn't a problem w/ the limiting screw, but rather a bent cage). par for the course.
thankfully a new day lies ahead and a chance to redeem myself.
